We always recommend purchasing BLUETTI and EcoFlow products directly from their official websites or Amazon stores. While there are many reputable wholesalers and third-party sellers, buying from these sources may invalidate your warranty and make it more challenging to contact customer support. For this reason, any and all links in this article will take you straight to the brands’ websites or official Amazon stores.

The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro is typically priced lower, with a regular price of $599 in the US (currently on sale for $399), and £649 in the UK.
Note that solar brands such as BLUETTI and EcoFlow have frequent sales on throughout the year. Whilst these prices are correct at the time of writing, it’s always worth checking their websites for current offers.
Output (W)
This puts the AC70 ahead both in terms of rated power and surge power output. Both have a Pure Sine Wave inverter type.
Outlet Options
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro have 4 different outlet types: AC, DC, USB-A, and USB-C. The complete number of each outlet type is as follows:
BLUETTI AC70:
- AC Outlet: 2x (120V, 8.33A)
- DC Outlet: 1x (12V/10A)
- USB-A Outlet: 2x (5VDC/2.4A 12W Max)

- USB-A Outlet: 3x (5V, 2.4A, 12W Max)
- USB-C Outlet: 1x (5/9/12/15/20V 5A)
Comparing the BLUETTI AC70 vs EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro, this puts the BLUETTI AC70 at a total of 7 different outlets compared to the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro with 8. The bigger overall number means we’re inclined to make the RIVER 2 Pro out to be the winner in this category, but it’s a negligible difference, and the winner for you should be whatever is most suitable for your charging needs.
Capacity (Wh)
The BLUETTI AC70 has a capacity of 768Wh. Its capacity can be expanded by pairing with the BLUETTI B80 (806Wh), B230 (2,048Wh), or B300 (3,072Wh) batteries when in ‘Power Bank Mode’ (which you can turn on via the BLUETTI App).
Conversely, the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro also starts with the same 768Wh capacity, but does not support any form of capacity expansion or scalability.
Although both have the same base capacity, the BLUETTI AC70’s potential for expandability puts it ahead of the RIVER 2 Pro in terms of capacity for BLUETTI AC70 vs EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro.
Battery
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro use LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) batteries.
Whilst these batteries are known to be slightly heavier and more costly than their lithium-ion counterparts, their superior safety profile and extended lifespan make them a consistently better option (at least in our opinion).
Recharging Options and Speed
Recharging Speed
Both power stations have similar fast charging times. The BLUETTI AC70 achieves a full charge in ~1.5 hours by 950W AC input Turbo Charging (0-80% in 45 minutes). With solar panels, using a maximum of 500W solar input and in optimal conditions, a full charge can be achieved in around 2 hours. A specific figure is not given for car charging, but the AC70 is likely to take around 10 hours by car/DC.
The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro has a slightly quicker charging time via AC, achieving a full charge in ~1.2 hours by 940W AC input. However, it has slower recharging times via solar than the BLUETTI AC70, achieving a full charge in 4.5 – 9 hours with an optimal solar panel setup. For car charging, expect 9 hours for a full charge.
Recharging Options
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro can be recharged through AC, car (12V/24V), and solar inputs, however the RIVER 2 Pro also offers the option of recharging via a USB-C input.
Charge Life Cycle
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro have the same impressive life cycles of 3,000+ charge cycles before dropping to 80% capacity, thanks to their LiFePO₄ batteries.
This is standard for LiFePO₄ batteries, which offer the best life cycles in the industry, though occasionally some portable power stations have 3,500+ charge cycles.
Rate and Depth of Discharge
Specific details about the rate and depth of discharge (DoD) for the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro have not been directly provided – however, both units use LiFePO₄ batteries, which typically support a discharge rate of 1C and have a recommended DoD of up to 80-90%.
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro allow for simultaneous charging and discharging.
UPS
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro offer UPS capabilities, with the AC70 having a switchover time of 20ms and the RIVER 2 Pro time given as <30ms.
This places the BLUETTI AC70 very marginally ahead when comparing BLUETTI AC70 vs EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro for UPS.
Loudness
The BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro both have quiet operation, with BLUETTI specifying that the AC70 operates at a ‘whisper-quiet’ <50 dB. No specific figure is given for normal operation of the RIVER 2 Pro, although EcoFlow have stated that its fans may make up to 62 dB of noise when charging and discharging at high wattage.
However, it’s worth noting that noise doesn’t seem to be a significant issue for either of the units, and the loudness of the fans is only mentioned once in the RIVER 2 Pro’s 200+ customer reviews.
Portability
Weight and size
The BLUETTI AC70 is slightly heavier at 22.5 lbs (10.2 kg) compared to the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro, which weighs approximately 17.2 lbs (7.8 kg).
In terms of size, the AC70 is also slightly larger at 12.4 x 8.2 x 10.1 inches (314 x 209.5 x 255.8 mm), compared to the RIVER 2 Pro’s dimensions of 10.6 x 7.7 x 8.9 inches (270 x 195 x 226 mm).
Handle design
Although the RIVER 2 Pro trumps the AC70 in terms of weight and size, when it comes handle comfort and design – a vital factor when it comes to portability – the BLUETTI AC70 comes out on top.
Both portable power stations have a single handle at the top rear of the unit, meaning you can easily carry it with a single hand. However, each follow the same classic handle design of BLUETTI and EcoFlow respectively – BLUETTI’s handle is rounder and built into the flat dimensions of the unit, whilst EcoFlow’s handle protrudes outward and is more angular in design.
Not only does this make the BLUETTI AC70 easier to store in more compact spaces (e.g. when not in use or during transportation*), but in our opinion, it is also just that bit more comfortable to hold than the RIVER 2 Pro. However, you may still prefer to opt for the RIVER 2 Pro if its lighter weight is a more important factor for you.
*Note that neither power station should be laid on its side during storage or transportation, as this may compromise the internal structure of the units.
Durability
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro power stations use a LiFePO₄ battery with built-in BMS protection (which includes protection against over-voltage, overloading, over-temperature, short circuit, low-temperature, low voltage, and overcurrent).
In terms of environmental durability, the AC70 and RIVER 2 Pro are both not waterproof, nor do they have any specific dust-resistant ratings, so both are best used in clean and dry environments. EcoFlow do make a point of stating that the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro is the first portable power station to have earned the “TÜV Rheinland certification for safety”, but honestly, this isn’t a certification we see very often, so it doesn’t really give much of an edge in our opinion. However, due to the otherwise identicality of durability markers, we’ll count that as a win on the RIVER 2 Pro’s part.
The recommended temperatures for charging, discharging, and storage of both units are very similar in range, but differ very slightly in terms of their upper and lower values. Again, if you anticipate using your portable power station in particularly high or low temperature environments, you should choose whichever power station best suits your needs. In any case, you should avoid recharging either power station in below-freezing temperatures.
The temperature ranges are as follows.
BLUETTI AC70:
- Charging temperature: 32°F – 104°F (0°C – 40°C)
- Discharging temperature: -4°F – 104°F (-20°C – 40°C)
- Storage temperature: -4°F – 104°F (-20°C – 40°C)
EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro:
- Charging temperature: 32°F – 113°F (0°C – 45°C)
- Discharging temperature: 14°F – 113°F (-10°C – 45°C)
- Storage temperature: 14°F – 113°F (-10°C – 45°C)
- Optimal temperature for both operating and storing: 68°F – 86°F (20°C – 30°C)
App Control and Connectivity
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro offer app control and connectivity, which exists to both enhance user control on a day-to-day basis, but also as a requirement for certain modes (in the AC70’s case).
The BLUETTI AC70 offers smart remote control via the BLUETTI App, which connects via Bluetooth. Through this app, you can monitor power usage, control settings remotely, and activate various modes such as ‘Power Lifting Mode‘ and ‘Turbo Charging’. Some users might find the requirement of phone connectivity to activate modes like this can actually be a hindrance, but it depends on your preference.
Similarly, the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro can be controlled via the EcoFlow app, but unlike BLUETTI’s, it supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Through the app you can adjust settings and charging speeds, monitor power and usage levels, and control the power station remotely (e.g. by turning output on/off for connected appliances).
Due to the versatility of EcoFlow’s app connectivity (through both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi), and also for the reason that we don’t personally always want to rely on phone connectivity to activate specific power or charging modes, we will give the RIVER 2 Pro the win in this arena.
Warranty
Both the BLUETTI AC70 and the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro have the same 5-year warranty. Sometimes we only see 2-3 years of warranty coverage, even for other models from BLUETTI and EcoFlow, so this is pretty much as good as it gets.
Please note that this warranty applies to products bought directly from the BLUETTI and EcoFlow official websites. Any purchases made through third-party sellers, including Amazon, might not be eligible for this warranty coverage. Therefore, we strongly recommend buying directly from the manufacturer’s website to ensure full warranty protection.

Conclusion: BLUETTI AC70 vs EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
So which one do we recommend?
As with many of our articles, it’s another very tough call, as both the BLUETTI AC70 and EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro are exceptionally reliable and well-crafted power stations. They’re also very similar in terms of specification, so it’s hard to identify a clear winner overall.
Once again, it seems to come down to personal preference and circumstance, rather than due to one being ‘better’ than the other in any particular area. For example, I often find myself leaning towards the BLUETTI option in many cases, simply because I personally prefer the aesthetics and handle design of the BLUETTI power stations – but also because of compatibility (most of the solar products in my possession are BLUETTI-branded, particularly portable solar panels). But the RIVER 2 Pro has certainly earned its massive number of very positive customer reviews, so don’t let my own circumstances influence you.
Here are our suggestions for if you really can’t decide:
- If you want a lighter option for easier handheld portability: EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
- If you want app access via both Wi-Fi and BlueTooth: EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
- If rapid solar charging is a particular priority: BLUETTI AC70
- If you want to expand capacity with external batteries: BLUETTI AC70
- If you live in hotter regions: EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
- If you live in colder regions: BLUETTI AC70
- If cost is the most important factor: choose whichever is currently on sale (or if neither are on sale, go for the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro)
In any case, whichever one you end up choosing, you really cannot go wrong. These are both formidable power stations from excellent brands.
We hope this helped with your decision!
