Welcome to our product comparison on EcoFlow DELTA vs DELTA 2, where we will break down the specs of both products to help you make an informed decision for your solar-powered needs. EcoFlow’s DELTA and DELTA 2 products are available both as individual portable power stations, as well as complete solar generator kits (which includes the core DELTA / DELTA 2 portable power station offering, plus a range of compatible solar panels to go with them).

Please note: the DELTA model is not currently available in the UK, however it can still be purchased in the US. The DELTA 2 model can be purchased in both the UK and the US.

In addition to their solar panel and smart devices range, EcoFlow’s product line-up is categorised into two main series: the DELTA Series and the RIVER Series. The DELTA series is designed for those requiring robust power solutions, featuring models with higher capacities and outputs. On the other hand, the RIVER series caters to users looking for more affordable options with moderate power needs.

EcoFlow’s DELTA range consists of the DELTA, DELTA Mini (now discontinued), DELTA Max, DELTA Pro, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max, DELTA Pro Ultra, and DELTA Pro 3 (where ‘Pro’ trumps ‘Max’). Click here to see the full range of DELTA products.

Their RIVER series consists of the RIVER Pro, RIVER 2, RIVER 2 Pro, and RIVER 2 Max. Click here to see the full range of RIVER products.

Introduced at IFA 2022 in Berlin, the DELTA 2 marks a significant evolution in EcoFlow’s DELTA series, which had already set high standards for fast charging, versatile use, and capacity. This new iteration introduced smart features such as app connectivity via Bluetooth and WLAN, significantly enhancing user convenience and control.

Building on the foundation of the original DELTA’s success, the DELTA 2 offers improved energy efficiency, a longer lifespan with over 3000 charge cycles, and expandable battery options, setting a new benchmark in the portable power station industry.

We always recommend purchasing EcoFlow products directly from their official website or Amazon store. While there are many reputable wholesalers and third-party sellers, buying from these sources may invalidate your warranty and make it more challenging to contact customer support. For this reason, any and all links in this article will take you straight to the brand’s website or official Amazon store.

Comparison Overview Chart

Comparison table: EcoFlow DELTA vs DELTA 2

Price

The DELTA comes in at $899 ($1,399 full price), making it more expensive than the DELTA 2 ($699 sale, $999 full price). The DELTA model is not currently available in the UK, but the DELTA 2 is £799 on sale, down from £899 full price.

Output (W)

The DELTA model can power 13 devices simultaneously with its 1800W output and a surge capability of 3300W, ensuring devices that require a higher initial power to start can be accommodated. In comparison, the DELTA 2, while maintaining the same regular 1800W output and offering surge output of 2700W, incorporates ‘X-Boost Technology’ to efficiently manage devices requiring up to 2200W without overloading. Additionally, the DELTA 2 enhances user experience with Wi-Fi & Bluetooth connectivity for smart control, a feature not available in its predecessor, the DELTA.

Capacity (Wh)

The DELTA has a 1260Wh capacity compared to the DELTA 2’s slightly lower 1024Wh. However, the DELTA 2 comes with further expandability of up to 3,000Wh by connecting to an additional external battery unit, the ‘DELTA 2 Smart Extra Battery’ (for an additional ~$700, or £600, when bought with the power station). Upgrade to this additional battery on the DELTA 2 product page to get the bulk-buy discount.

Battery

With its LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery, EcoFlow’s DELTA 2 offers a superior battery solution compared to the original DELTA model. The LiFePO4 battery not only provides enhanced safety and stability over the Lithium-ion alternative, but it also significantly extends the lifespan of the power station, making the DELTA 2 a more reliable and cost-effective choice over time.

Recharging Options and Speed

The DELTA can recharge from 0%-80% within 1 hour via AC, achieving a full recharge in 1.6 hours, and offers solar recharging options that vary between 3.5 to 7 hours, depending on the panel configuration. However, the DELTA 2 is even faster – it recharges from 0-80% in 50 minutes, can fully recharge via AC in under 2 hours, and allows for a broader solar charging input, promising full recharge times as quick as 3 hours with optimal solar panel setup.

Charge Life Cycle

The DELTA 2 lasts 3000 life cycles before dropping to 80%, compared to the DELTA’s 800

Portability

Weighing 30.9lbs (14kg), the DELTA is slightly heavier than the 27lbs (12.2kg) DELTA 2. Both the DELTA and the DELTA 2 are almost exactly the same size, with the DELTA 2 just 0.4in (11mm) longer than its predecessor.

Warranty

The DELTA has a 2 year warranty, whilst the DELTA 2 comes with an impressive 5 year warranty.

It’s important to note that these warranty terms apply to products purchased directly from the EcoFlow website. They state on their website that warranty periods may also vary according to local laws and regulations, so it’s always recommended to review the specific terms applicable in your region.

  • App Functionality: Some users were disappointed to find the DELTA lacking in app connectivity and smart features found in other EcoFlow models, highlighting a desire for remote control and monitoring capabilities.
  • USB-C Output Limitation: A few mentioned the USB-C ports provided only 65W, not meeting the needs of devices requiring higher power, such as some laptops.
  • Solar Charging Expectations: While solar charging was generally praised, some users noted the actual solar input occasionally fell short of expectations or required additional panels for optimal charging speed.

DELTA 2: ⭐ (426

  • Portability and Battery Technology: Customers appreciate the Delta 2 for its compact size, lightweight design, and advanced LFP battery technology, which marks a significant upgrade from previous models and competing brands.
  • Charging Efficiency: The ability to fast charge via AC or solar within 4-5 hours for both the Delta 2 and its extra battery is highly valued, along with the convenient app that allows monitoring and control over the charging process and power output.
  • Power and Expandability: Users are impressed with the Delta 2’s power output and its expandability feature, allowing an extra battery to significantly increase its capacity. This makes it versatile for a wide range of uses, from emergency backup power to outdoor activities.
  • Stand-Alone Functionality of Extra Battery: Some users expressed a desire for the extra battery to function independently, providing additional versatility.
  • Minor Power Draining Issue: A noted concern was the power station’s slight power drain over time when not in use, though a BMS reset was suggested as a solution, which seemed to resolve the issue for affected users.

Conclusion: DELTA vs DELTA 2

It probably comes at no surprise to learn that, in conclusion, we think the DELTA 2 is the best option of the two. Whilst the DELTA model is still an exceptional power station in its own right, the DELTA 2 is simply the new and improved version.

This is due to a number of factors – LiFePO4 battery technology, faster charging capabilities, overloading protection, longer warranty, and smart connectivity features. The only drawback is that it has slightly weaker capacity and surge output than its predecessor, but its expandable battery add-on addresses this issue nicely (if you are willing to fork out the additional $700, that is). Customer feedback confirms this; emphasising the DELTA 2’s reliability, efficiency, and user-friendly design.

We hope this helped to clear up any doubts around your decision!
